Born of Southern Ontario, they are borne by an unending desire to make music for you, your friends, and your parents. Now, after more than a year’s patient labour, they are ready to release their follow-up album: At Odds (or, Exercises in Separation While United in the Fall) on Nevado Records of Toronto Biography: A brief and busy two years after the independent release of their debut full-length Goodbye Doris, Fox Jaws have been steadily building a group of loyal devoted listeners, show by show, one by one. Now, after more than a year’s patient labour, they are ready to release their follow-up album: At Odds (or, Exercises in Separation While United in the Fall) on Nevado Records of Toronto Beginning nearly seven years ago in the brains of Dan Allen (Guitar & Vocals), Brandyn Aikins (Drums), and others now lost to the far reaches of the nation, Fox Jaws have constantly evolved, never wanting to let the grass die beneath their feet. But, the vigorous passion and raw power of live performance remains the mainstay of Fox Jaws’ ethos. DuMaurier-voiced chanteuse Carleigh Aikins is the broken heart to Allen’s introspective lyrics and swelling delayed guitar; Brandyn lays out the percussive map; guitarist and keyboardist Andrew Shropshire adds the sparkle and shine; and, bassist Evan Rosevear drives the songs forward with a breathless, sweaty energy. Together they have forged a sound that is equal parts pop, wall of noise, experiment, and rock and roll. Over the past few years Fox Jaws has had the pleasure and privilege of being featured at North by North-East, Pop Montreal, Canadian Music Week, and on the CBC Radio 3 Podcast. They have also had the good fortune to share the stage with the likes of the Constantines, Grizzly Bear, and Fleet Foxes. Riding high on the critical success of their debut release and an ever expanding, ever energetic fan-base, the band continues to follow their plan of playing whenever and wherever they can, making new friends, and creating music for themselves, and for their audiences.
